The Tai Chi class done in water helps relieve pain, stiffness and improve mobility and greatly improves balance. Tai Chi is a gentle and relaxing. It is easy to learn. Step by step instructions will allow for participating individuals to set their own level and pace. Participants will learn how to relieve their own pain as they tune their own body and help with their own relaxing program through the power of Tai Chi.
The first 20 minutes of this class is a full cardio workout using the water, and water weights. Based off the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Aquatic leader Program this class then does gentle exercises working the participants’ whole body. It focuses on Range of Motion (ROM), posture and joint care from fingers to toes. Water walking and education on functional movement are always part of class.
Aqua Zumba uses various Latin American/international rhythms and dances as well as other fun music types (hop-hop, rock, oldies & country). The dance moves are modified, and adapted to the aquatic environment and everyone can modify as needed. It is the “Zumba Pool Party Experience.” Aqua Zumba is a super fun way to work out, and uses each of the five fitness components. Muscle endurance, increasing muscle strength, greater energy, balance of body composition, including the training of cardiovascular and respiratory systems to push against the resistance of water. Large range of motion movements promote muscle flexibility and Joint mobility in water. You don’t have to know how to swim or how to dance. Enjoy the therapy of the warm water and “Move with Joy.”
